AMARILLO, TEXAS - The body found at an Amarillo apartment complex has now been identified as 51-year old Ricky Glen Provence.

Police stayed on scene well into Tuesday night investigating a possible murder in Amarillo at an apartment complex on the corner of SW 16th and Jefferson.

Around 1:45 p.m. the call came into 911 saying one of the tenant's family members found him dead inside an upstairs apartment.

"We feel that there's some suspicious things going on and we need to investigate this as it is a homicide, and it's not going to surprise us if that's what it is," Officer Gary Troupe said.

Police aren't revealing what looks suspicious, but they'll know more after the autopsy is complete in a couple of days.

"And once we get through determining what the cause of death is, we'll get with the appropriate folks and divulge the information we can," Special Crime's Erick BoHannon said.

In the meantime, officers continue questioning persons of interest and collecting evidence.
