The Amarillo Police Department’s SWAT unit was called to a house in north Amarillo on Tuesday evening to assist in the arrest two people with felony warrants.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. officers from APD’s Proactive Criminal Enforcement Unit received word on two people with felony warrants at a home in the 1300 block of North Harrison Street.

Logan Bailey Lawrence and Carlos Rene Perez, both 28, were the felons in question and they were believed to be inside the house. When officers arrived on the scene, APD reports they saw Lawrence, Perez and two other men run inside the residence.

Officers attempted to make contact but Lawrence and Perez would not leave the house. Information received by officers led them to believe one subject may have been armed with a gun.

Just before 5 p.m. APD’s SWAT team and negotiators were called the scene, and by 6:15 p.m. police said Lawrence, Perez and the two other men exited the house.

Lawrence had been wanted for a parole violation warrant for dangerous drugs, as well as a bond forfeiture out of Potter County for dangerous drugs. Perez had a parole violation warrant for dangerous drugs.

Both were booked in the Potter County Detention Center, and the two other men were released at the scene.
