Christopher Price was arrested near his home for physically assaulting his wife and firing a handgun in her
direction. Christopher Price was arrested by the Amarillo Police Dept. without incident and taken to the Potter Co. Correction Center where no problems were noted. Price appeared to be intoxicated when arrested and was booked into a single detox cell. During a check of the cells at 6:40 AM, on 03-02-08, Price was found in a the Detox cell, by himself, not breathing. CPR was attempted as well as an AED, but Price was pronounced dead in the cell. No injuries were observed on Price body.
Preliminary investigation discovered that Price had taken a handful of presription meds that was witnessed by his step-daughter prior to his arrest. This information was not known by the arresting officers as well as the Detention Center.
Price had made suicidal threats prior to his arrest to his wife. Price had been drinking beer and had a minor heart problem. Preliminary autopsy results indicated no foul play or injuries and was listed as pending toxicology and microscopic studies.
