A 24-year-old man remained in jail Friday on felony drug charges after an ongoing investigation by Borger authorities.
Damien Kemp is in Borger city jail in lieu of $30,000 bonds resulting from a raid conducted by the police department's special operations team and the Hutchinson County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday evening, said department spokesman Lt. Anthony Griffin. Kemp, of Borger, was arrested at 812 Monroe St. in Borger where officers and deputies found $600 worth of narcotics and "a substantial amount of U.S. currency," Griffin said.
The house was also equipped with a counter-surveillance system used by Kemp in and around the residence, Griffin said.
Kemp is charged with distribution of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) - more than 1 gram and less than 4 grams, a second-degree felony; possession of marijuana - more than 4 ounces but less than 5 pounds, a state jail felony; and evading arrest and/or detention with a previous conviction, a state jail felony.
